Carnations and Characters

The only thing that can take the bitter sting out of the ice storm we got last night, (I won't bore you with photos, I'm sure you've all seen enough ice for the year!) is the fluffy pinkness of grocery store carnations.
At $1.99 a bunch I can afford to chase the gloom and think of sunshine and warmth and all things spring.
Earl saw me photographing these and commented that he assumed I was posting a bitter rebuttal to the winter weather.  Oh yes, the man knows me well.
On another subject I thought Iwould show you what has been taking up so many hours that I can barely keep up with blogging. Oh yes, it looks innocent enough, but when you're learning, it is hours of diddling around at the computer.  The assignment was to illustrate a video game or comic type character, based on ourselves, that told something about us.  I sew, of course, so here I am in all my superhero glory.  I want you to know this is an exact replication of what I look like. Really. I have an outfit just like the one I'm wearing in this illustration.
 And I'm that skinny.
And  thimbles shoot from my fingertips.
Sometimes I crack me up.

  5. Girl, you ARE a superhero - I absolutely LOVE your alter ego...what a fabulous illustration! And yep...that represents a LOT of work! Nicely done!

So, you can tame killer tomatoes (which still cracks me up), but can't do anything about your nemesis Mr. Ice Guy...pity... :o)
Now I feel bad about complaining that it's gonna be in the high 80's at Round Top...I'm an ungrateful bum! ;o)

Hang in there Super Seamstress..Thimbleena...whatever your name is...Spring is on the way!

    Your carnations are beautiful, btw!

    Hugs & Blessings,

  7. Fabulous! I'll never think of a pin cushion in quite the same way again.

Cold winter storm here in Cali all week too. Roof has a leak and water is dripping through the seams of my kitchen cabinet! I could use a handyman superhero right about now. Anyone got Mike Holmes number?

  18. Hi Kathy, Gosh, I've missed you! My mom passed away and I haven't been out in blogland for months...until a couple of days this past week.

That first photo of carnations looks professional. I don't know what you shoot with, but the results are stunning.

And you did the coolest job 'replicating' yourself with your super hero garb and all the accoutrement! What fun!!!! I'm jealous!!
