Monday, Monday

Tell me,
What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
Detail from an original collage I made in Graphic design class last year.

Ever feel like you still don't have it all figured out?  As an adult I thought I would have it all mapped out long ago.  I keep plugging along, hoping my "someday" dream will turn into reality. A friend of mine thinks she is having a mid-life crisis.  She probably is.  Because what nobody tells you is that defining yourself, readjusting your reality, tweaking your goals, is an ongoing job.  You sometimes wonder if you'll ever get where you want to go.  On the other hand, what would you have to look forward to if you did?
Got a dream? Can you see it getting closer?  Feel like it's a lost cause?
Don't give up. Share. Realize we all feel a little hopeless. Am I right?
Wrong? Talk to me....

  1. Oh yes, redefining my life is definitely an ongoing process - never ending. And another watershed moment is soon approaching as I finish my degree and wonder what to do with the rest of my life.

  3. What a nice piece of artwork! Did you show us that back then? I remember something you did that was really nice...this may be it. Wellll...I think I've never had much drive as far as being a career person...and you have accomplished MUCH by raising two smart beauties...so I hope you aren't selling yourself short.
I have a hungry boy staring at me...I'll go do my job!

  4. You should go to Raised In Cotton's new blog. It's all about this stuff. Thought of that as soon as I read this. I think it's called Good Stella. Look on my sidebar. When are we going to figure out what we want to be when we grow up...

  6. I always have dreams that I'm working on but I am happy with my life and love what I am doing at the present. We don't have a lot of money but even in that I love the challenge of living within our means. Finding things at a bargain and having to wait until we do have the money sometimes. I find I appreciate what I get more then. I am happy in my marriage and with my church so put that all together and I have a good life. But yes, I always have dreams. Hope this answers your question. This is a very interesting post and made me think!

  7. I think this can be every womans story. I think it has to do with the fact that we are not truly home here, just passing through. Good food for thought. Patty

Thanks for expressing your thoughts on the ever changing journey we call life.
I'm so glad to know I'm not the only person still wondering about what I really want to accomplish while I'm here. I guess that's why I like to try so many new things!

  9. I have had so many plans for my life and even though all of them have not come to fruition, I have found that each day presents new and exciting paths to follow. So, in essence, just follow your heart!

Your post is just that for me ...

I will be pondering your words ...
"Because what nobody tells you is that defining yourself, readjusting your reality, tweaking your goals, is an ongoing job."

  11. First off, you always just blow me away with all your talents. I LOVE this artwork.

Since I am in the Winter season of my life, Kathy girl, I pretty much have reached most of my goals...not all my dreams, by a loong shot. But, I've reached enuf of my dreams that I am content. So you will be, too, by the time you reach my age.
You are still young and have many years to work towards your dreams. Don't ever give up on them. As you go along, your dreams will change..as your family changes.
    Great post today.

  12. Kathy,
There are chapters whee I take one step forward and fall back ten. Sometimes just as I get close to reaching a personal dream, I have to put it on hold because of family needs. I think that dreams are never lost, they just take a bit longer to reach.

By the way, this collage would make gorgeous fabric for your sewing designs.

  13. I've heard it said that life is a journey, not a destination. Where do we get the idea that we're finally going to "arrive"? The older I get the farther away I seem to be from how I thought my life would turn out. It's an adventure all the way, so we may as well enjoy it and stop trying to figure everything out.

  14. I just try to be grateful for everyday, do my best and be creative. (so mostly I guess I am "winging it")

  15. Kathy, first of all, love the collage!!! It is wonderful and so creative!!! As for plans, I just thank God for each day and pray that the next will be full of promises. I lean on Him each day and thank him for my blessings. Working on keeping my space at the shop filled with fun stuff - and am thankful that others like it enough to buy from me.

    Love you!!
